How Did HireCast Help?

Branching Paths

When advertising for apprentices, part of the problem Mott MacDonald faced was that they needed to convince three groups of people to apply for the role; the student, their teacher and their parents.

When selecting an apprenticeship, students have different concerns and motivations from their parents and teachers, and as such need different information about the role.

HireCast solved this problem by offering ‘branching paths’ through the apprenticeship interactive video, with separate video paths catering to each demographic.

This ensured we could give all parties all the information specific to their needs, without bogging down other viewers with irrelevant details.

Showed a Bright Future

When recruiting talented graduates or budding apprentices, two of their primary concerns are ensuring the work is relevant and challenging, and if there is any chance for progression once their scheme or apprenticeship is over. This is something that is hard to demonstrate using a traditional text-based job description.

One of the key strengths of HireCast is the ability to demonstrate these aspects in an authentic manner. Mott MacDonald were able to show candidates all the exciting projects they would be working on. By including interviews with current and past members of the schemes, to explaining in person what work they undertook, and how their careers have progressed since, it demonstrated to candidates that there was a bright future for them at Mott MacDonald.

Highlighted Support Networks

Graduates and apprentices can be daunted by entering the workplace, as many have little experience in a professional working environment, and can need extra help to settle in.

HireCast worked as a great way to introduce graduates and apprentices to a support network. This was achieved through interviewing mentors, managers and co-workers, clearly demonstrating the support and guidance available to them.

This works well to reassure applicants, and has contributed to a reduction in drop out rates over both schemes since the implementation of HireCast.

In order to stay ahead of its rivals, Mott MacDonald needed to highlight their USPs in an entertaining and engaging manner, to ensure the success of their recruitment campaign.
